Pain in the...
Anyone have tips for dealing with sciatica? I am pretty sure that is what I have these days, which is causing extreme hobbling and a fair bit of whining. It started Sunday, when what has been usual but tolerable hip pain became quite a bit more. Not the shooting pain all the way down the leg that I've heard about, but definitely a very sore spot in my butt with sharp pain when I move, and the occasional ache down the leg. My OB said it likely will not go away until delivery, though it could get better. Luckily, the pain goes away for the most part if I sit, but I really cannot walk for more than a block or two, and even getting around the house is a pain! So far Tylenol is working to take the edge off (I am staring longingly at the muscle relaxants Lonnie just got for TMJ, however) as is elevating my feet and using a heating pad. But it stinks to be so immobile! I'm already doing physical therapy 2x a week (really its just insurance-covered massage, but I'll take that!) and acupuncture once a week (hoping she can do something for it at my appointment this afternoon). Add to that a doctors appointment yesterday (all is well, measuring on target at 35 weeks, baby sounding strong and active - ha!) and it feels like all I do is travel across the city to various appointments! More updates soon, perhaps some baby room photos...things are starting to come together on that front...

I am so sorry you are in pain! That totally stinks. I had that problem starting at 5 weeks because my uterus is completely on the left and it was putting pressure on my sciatic nerve by just that small amount of growth. It is awful pain. Just another example of why I should not ever be pregnant. It went away after I lost the baby so you may just have to wait it out until that little one comes. The physical therapy and massage are the only things I could recommend. :(

Oh no! So sorry for your sciatic pain. It is real and it sucks. The only suggestion I have is to get on all fours and wiggle your butt - both side to side and tilted up then down. By being on all fours, gravity should pull gravity off it for awhile so you can try to get some relief.

You're not doing anything crazy like wearing heels during the day are you? I am somedays and I notice mine is sore the day after I wear heels. (I know, stupid, stupid to do)

Kristin,
So sorry you are having to deal with this pain. 35 weeks! Holy cow...
Can't wait to see the new pictures.

Kristin - you're getting close now! Any updates for us? Has the sciatic pain improved at all?

I am really anxious for pics of the finished bathroom and the baby's room. I hope you feel up to posting soon. :)
