Who am I?
Hmmmmm....
I was born in Menlo Park, CA, grew up in Vancouver, WA, and now live in Seattle. I have two degrees (one from Carleton College in Minnesota and one from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon), but alas, am not currently employed or working in my fields of expertise (English & Elementary Education)! I did teach 1st grade and kindergarten for 3 years, loved some of it and hated a lot of it (I think it was the extreme multitasking). I still enjoy hanging out with kids and teaching reading though, and hope to get back to that someday. I also make art, something I have have always been passionate about. I take pictures and paint with wax, which is called encaustic painting. Sounds toxic, but its not! I've been in a few group shows, sold some pieces, and hope to have an individual show at some point in the future. I suppose I am a bit of a hippie at heart, though I am getting old and my habits are rapidly becoming yuppyish. Damn.
I am also married. Here he is. We got married in July, 2002, though we were, admittedly, high school sweethearts. He is a computer geek (i.e. software architect leaning towards the small start up side of things ) and very good at what he does, though I can't really describe it to you (nor can he, unless you are also quite geeky)! We used to spend our weekends going out to dim sum, gardening and puttering around the house, but oh! How things have changed! In 3 short years!
So yeah, there's the baby thing. After more than three years of infertility madness, I discovered I was pregnant and eventually gave birth to a baby girl in May, 2006. Holy smokes! She is a doll and we love her to bits. A mere 16 months later we were totally blown away to discover we were expecting identical twins! Elsie and Delia arrived on the scene in May 2008, and have been charming us ever since. For a year, we were living the insanity of 3 kids under 3, eeeps! But now we are starting to breathe (and sleep!) again. WHEW! Why do I get the feeling that the story has only just begun....?
